Get outside

June 01, 20212 min read

Mother Nature. She is often taken for granted and provides more for us than we even realize. So be sure to take time to find the beauty in everyday life because it is so worth it. Find the joy in being outside. Shift your mindset from thinking this is a chore, a punishment, a waste of time. This is your time. Your time to be detached from the world. Away from technology and simply in the present mind, working on yourself. Go outside if you can and appreciate the environment you're in. The feeling of breathing in the fresh air. Picking up your feet, stride by stride, and moving miles. Of course, there are those days of crummy weather where we want to work out indoors but jog in the rain from time to time. The more I am outside the more I feel alive. It is when my mind feels the clearest and I can think freely without all the noise. It is easy to forget the feeling of spending time outside, but trust me, it is worth the reminder.

WE’VE DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE ACTUALLY STATISTICAL REASONS TO EXERCISE OUTSIDE FOR YOUR PHYSICAL & MENTAL HEALTH.

BUILD MORE MUSCLE

By running on hills outdoors you'll up the workload not just on your glutes, but throughout your legs as well as in your core. Whereas when you are on a treadmill, the belt brings your leg back taking off some of the natural muscles that are being used when you are outside. This creates an increase in muscle building because you’re using every ounce of your body which adds up more than you realize!

BURN MORE CALORIES

Research has shown that exercising outside burns almost 5% more calories than when you’re inside. When you are jogging outside, you face natural elements such as wind, which creates resistance and pressure on your body you don’t even realize. This causes your body to burn more calories along with the variety of terrain you are on.

STRESS MANAGEMENT

Running can control stress and boost the body's ability to deal with existing mental tension. Exercise also increases concentrations of norepinephrine, a chemical that helps moderate the brain's response to stress. Moving your body outside bumps up your endorphins, which is that feel-good hormone.

INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY

Feeling unmotivated? The solution might be just a short run away. Research shows that workers who take time to exercise regularly are more productive and have more energy than less active peers. The more you exercise outside the more you will notice this benefit. Over time it’ll drastically increase your mood and make you feel more motivated.
